Crumbsnatcher is a term for a wild or rambunctious child who refused to behave. Crumbsnatchers are also a deliriously energetic punk-band from Knoxville in Tennessee. This Friday will see the release of their debut LP, Big House, and today we’re delighted to be able to share with you the latest track to be lifted from that record, A Short Leash.
Crumbsnatchers debut album has been five years worth of frenzied and rapturously received house shows in the making, but Big House was more than worth the wait. They initially plotted a Kickstarter Campaign to get the album recording off the ground, but after it fell short of its target they were forced to take extra jobs, and as such the album had a longer gestation period than they’d originally intended. As fate would have it that was not necessarily a bad thing, certainly the resultant record sounds more cohesive, and fully formed than your average punk debut, and, as much as anything, Big House is evidence for the joys of taking your time.
Their new found confidence and improved recording quality is never more evident than on the track we premiere today, A Short Leash. From the moment Sam counts the band in, there’s a relentless energy to the band, and in the rapid glam-tinged thrash, they recall fellow noise-niks Mclusky or My Red Cell. Thrilling and slightly deranged, it’s exactly what you’d want from a modern punk band, and with the relese of their debut album, expect far more people to be falling for Crumbsnatchers charms, let’s just hope we don’t have to wait five years for the next one.
