We Say…
We first covered Cecilia Ebba back in June last year, when the Swedish songwriter was still based in London. Now relocated to Copenhagen, Cecilia has recently released Just Fantasy, her 7-track debut EP, maintaining her DIY credentials by putting it out on her own, Vilda Recordings label.
The EP was recorded in London, prior to Cecilia moving on, and the city Cecilia describes as, “a whirlwind of a city”. London certainly left an impression on her, with its presence in her lyrics; full of whirlwind romances, emotional turmoil and the battle to find some sort of peace of mind recurring themes. Musically, Just Fantasy is a varied and confident debut, a record unafraid of contrasting the gentle vocal melodies, with loud, dense soundscapes, as on the title track, or letting the lightness shine through as on the stunning Cerulean Blue. Cecilia may have only briefly graced this sceptered isle, yet it’s left a lasting impression on her, just as her music will on anyone willing to give it the time of day.
They Say…
FTR: For those who don’t know who is Cecilia Ebba?
I’m Swedish but am currently living in Copenhagen, writing songs is my therapy, I love to sing, I have a great sense of humor (according to 50% of my friends), I have a terrible dry weird sense of humor (according to the other 50% of my friends), I release my music through my own independent label ‘Vilda Recordings’, a small part of me wish I could just stay home all day and play The Sims or Roller Coaster Tycoon, I’m gluten intolerant and I can’t shut up about it.
FTR: What can you remember about your first show?
I’ve been singing and performing since I was very young, but when I started performing my own material in my twenties I found that was a very different thing. I remember being less worried about what my voice sounded like and more nervous about what people would think of the actual song. It felt incredibly intimate as I was standing there singing songs I had written about my own life to total strangers. It was both a nerve-racking and an amazing experience.
FTR: Why do you make music? Why not another art form?
I do other art forms as well, but just as hobbies. I love being creative and exploring new things but my main passion is in music and has been for as long as I can remember. Being creative is a way for me to connect with myself and I believe I do that best through music.
FTR: What can people expect from the Cecilia Ebba live show?
It’s normally just me and my guitar in small venues when I play live, so I think that makes my gigs very intimate and personal.
FTR: What’s next for Cecilia Ebba?
I’m currently writing new music and I’m really looking forward to see what I’ll come up with! I also have a gig coming up in Malmö (Malmö Live) on June 15th which I’m really excited about.

1. Agnes Obel – Citizen Of Glass
I’m listening a lot to this track by Agnes Obel right now and I just love the atmosphere she’s created in it.
2. Alt-J – Deadcrush
Alt-J is a really big inspiration of mine and I actually hadn’t listened to their music properly until I stumbled across this one. I believe I’m now hooked forever.

This track is so beautiful and Emma’s voice is just breathtaking. I urge you all to check this one out!
