[VIDEO PREMIERE] Velveteen Echo – Heart Undo

Based out of Houston, Texas, Velveteen Echo formed back in 2017, when a one-off video project shifted into a fully-fledged band. The band have gone on to release a pair of excellent EPs, 2018’s Submarine and 2019’s Golden Ring. Back in March, the band made their most compelling musical statement to date with the release of their debut long-player, Mirrors/Myths, a darker more layered affair than their previous jangling offerings. Today the band are sharing the video for one of the record’s stand-out moments, Heart Undo.

Heart Undo opens with an instantaneous urgency, the tumbling guitar-riff and lithe percussion bringing to mind Hail To Thief-era Radiohead or early Midlake. From there, singer Ren Massa enters, her multi-layered, reverberating vocals, only adding to the track’s disorienting quality, like the musical equivalent of being stuck in a distinctly fiendish hall of mirrors.

Filmed in their native Texas, the accompanying video created by Lindsey Cooper-Trevino attempts to, “capture the languid feeling of having nowhere to be — a meet up of friends at the outskirts of town”. Check it out below.
