EPs Of The Year 2024

If you’re reading this, then there’s a good chance you’ll probably have been wondering where For The Rabbits has been. After going into hospital straight off a plane back from a holiday in India at the end of November, my Mum was eventually diagnosed with Glioblastoma. For those that don’t know, it’s a particularly aggressive form of brain tumour, with little or no treatment options available. Sadly, she passed away at the end of March, following the path led by my Dad, who passed away at the end of 2022. I’ll probably talk about that more at some point down the line, when I’ve made a bit more sense of it all, as I feel there’s probably something interesting there to be shared.

For now I wanted to take some baby steps into cranking the gears of this old music blog (to quote Huw Stephen’s on a recent 6Music trailer, remember those?) Starting with a rather overdue round up of some of my favourite records of 2024. There’s obviously a question of relevance sharing this in May, but for posterity it seemed unfair on some truly fantastic records that they not carve their notch in the annals of For The Rabbits history.

As is traditional, I’ve started with my favourite EPs, twenty easily digested nuggets of musical excellence that, as ever, shone a light on some newer acts with huge futures, and a few old favourites testing the waters of what might come next.
