[PREMIERE] Wolf Girl – Dream Partner

It’s an exciting week for the fast rising London indie-pop quartet, Wolf Girl, with the release of their second album, Every Now And Then, due out this Friday on Everything Sucks Music. The follow up to their 2016 debut, We Tried, Every Now And Then is an album that see’s Wolf Girl expand their music palette and step into more challenging and personal lyrical content. Ahead of the album’s release, today we’re sharing the video to the band’s latest single, Dream Partner.

The first tracked to be penned by drummer, Christabel Williams, Dream Partner might sound like a classic loved-up pop song, when in reality it’s more about the relationships that are going in the confines of your sleeping mind. As Christabel elaborates, these are the relationships that come to you when you’re dreaming, “they last in your subconscious, and I like the idea of a love song to people you didn’t even realise you loved”.

Musically, Dream Partner is a slice of retro-pop; stepping away from their more energetic punkier tendencies, we’re put in mind of The Crystals covering Hank Williams, while the band themselves suggest Carole King’s Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, was a key influence.

The track is accompanied by a video featuring a serious of disastrous dates, a pistol shoot out and some excellent cowboy costumes, courtesy of Film-maker Gemma Grange. As always with Wolf Girl there’s a winning combination of fun and poignancy, a band who delve into personal experience and realise you can still have fun delivering that message.

Every Now And Then is out October 19th via Everything Sucks Music. Click HERE for more information on Wolf Girl.
