Hailing from Malmö, Sweden, Loaver is the latest signing to the fantastic Stockholm-based label, Rama Lama Records. The musical project of Linnea Hall, vocalist of Swedish experimental indie rock group Kluster B, Loaver grew from Linnea’s desire to, “showcase all sides of her experiences and inspirations”. Last year saw the release of the Loaver’s self-titled debut EP, which was quickly followed by a new single, Drömmeri (om döden). Linnea is currently building up to the October release of the debut Loaver album, Fern, and today we’re premiering the latest single from it, Bloom With Me.

Recorded, like all of Fern, in collaboration with Emanuele Maniscalco and Carlo Poddighe, Bloom With Me was, in Linnea’s words, “written in a basement in Italy, in some kind of hopeless longing for union and development amongst all those stringy branches”.
Musically, the track is a delightfully downbeat affair, as slow-burning keyboards provide the backing to Linnea’s poignant chiming vocal performance. Despite being stripped back, it’s only towards the tracks end that it steps beyond its minimal instrumentation, as drums and a particularly wonderful bass-line add a swelling intensity, in perfect contrast to the easy vocal melody. This feels like a step forward for Loaver, an already intriguing songwriter taking their music up a level and marking Fern out as one of the year’s most exciting upcoming releases.
Fern is out October 30th via Rama Lama Records. Click HERE for more information on Loaver
